Planning and the modern world, everything we are born to in the modern world has a plan behind it. The way that nature and the cosmos functions is not a plan (that we are aware of) but it has brilliant and flexible structure, the universe seemingly expanding outwardly from a single point, and in the course of this explosion, humans have come to be on a pale blue speck within it all. The human experience, the process of being and all the feeling and thinking and perception that occurs in the form of being human, all part of an unplanned process of spontaneous axiomatic creation. Matter and energy, the human body, the earth body, space and form, emptiness and fullness, the oppositional and unifying forces that hold together the fabric of the universe, yin and yang.
Life on earth undulating through the quantum soup as biological and organic life, like an ocean of matter and energy, some of which began to form cellular mechanisms, little energy processing units within a system, some of which began to evolve and to breath, some of which became aware, self aware and aware of nonself.
Through evolution, humans ended up with these hands and these thumbs. Humans began to change their environment to better suit their perceived needs, food, clothing, shelter, medicine. The origins of design, turning natures matter into something else, into an object, into something to be used for a purpose other than the purpose of the matter that it is organically constituted of. Nature and the elements are self evident, the form that nature takes is of natures design. Nature is the perfect designer, the question is are humans and our meddlesome hands fumbling around with natures elements, rummaging through earths bounty to find, harvest and label natural resources for energy and to make all the objects for the runaway ideology capitalism and the dangerous illusion of endless growth.
The systems of man involve the intellect, the process of deducing how things seems to be, making measurements of the external world of matter and using gathered information and data to make a plan, to design, build or organize.
The spiritual understanding of reality recognizes that the human desire to plan and control their environment is depleting to something within, something of great beauty and awe, wisdom and respect for all beings and earth.
plan (n.)
The meaning “scheme of action, formulated scheme for the accomplishment of some object or attainment of an end”
In the 1670s, was documented as used as a technical term in perspective drawing; more generally by 1706 as “the representation of anything drawn on a plane; a drawing, sketch, or diagram of any object,” from French plan “ground plot of a building, map,” literally “plane surface” (mid-16c.), from Latin planum “level or flat surface,” noun use of adjective planus “level, flat” (from PIE root *pele- (2) “flat; to spread”).
1: an often customary method of doing something : PROCEDURE
2: a detailed formulation of a program of action
3: an orderly arrangement of parts of an overall design or objective
4: a method for achieving an end
Texts of ancient wisdom and religious scriptures, like the Bhagavad Gita, elude to an existential conundrum of planning. Beyond religious belief, the texts points out that planning and at the actuality of plannings effect on the human mind-body and the earth system effects the quality of life. Humans ability to design have created a problem, exchanging one problem for another, human want, the desire, to have, the making something where there was nothing is the bain and fortune of humanity.
Human control over the system creates an expectation for control. The “need” to grasp and hold ones mind to a concentration, to relentlessly be focused on maintaining a control of the world which one has built and lives within has created a hostile environment in the mind-body, the individual within the natural environment and the built environment of buildings, cars, and objects, is subjected to human systems of control. Humans and entities controlling other human-minds and bodies by way of prompting, inducement, feeling and perception.
Human mind-bodies becoming not only natures unfolding but also the unfolding of Big Mind, human creativity and its counter part the plan..
The physical human and the field of activity in and around the body is an amazing phenomena of human experience. The field of activity can give rise to auditory and visual hallucinations, synesthesia or cross sensual experience. The field of activity is interactive with the 5 senses doors that give rise to consciousness. Like a filter of perception for a concentration, what is heard is heard for the concentration, not just the individual, unless the individual is truly without entanglement. A concentration could have a unified and peaceful feeling even while maintaining an intensity, at pace, with a cohesive group, but the practice of the most serious meditators and monastics is stillness, meditation, study, quietness, very little conversation, and household or monastery operations for the majority of daily life. The group of monastics would know itself, as itself and pursue the fruits of meditation as itself. Part of that process is the individual separating from the group for individual practice, the experience of singleness.
Separation in society and in main stream culture is often difficult or even guarded against. Perhaps because of the political and business relationships with separation; “that team is running away with it!”, “there getting ahead!”.
The winning team tearing out of the mass of suffering with a fist full of cash or several zeros in a bank account, the competition of separation, the normalization of non-compassionate action, the passion of American culture is combative and often disturbing in regards to separation and individuality.
The fear of this phenomena is often capitalized on, people often oppressed into dismal mental dispositions. Fear and hatred as felt experiences within the mind-body and as phenomena within the field of activity are the root of disturbance within the human condition. The action from the felt experiences of fear and hatred are the making of war and terrorism.
A concentrated group of humans can seemingly share a field of activity, a group perception, perceived by the individual mind bodies involved. A strong group concentration may result in a group feeling, a group perception, a group awareness. A concentrated group with peaceful relations and similar environments may have a strong, unified concentration of specific awareness. When the concentration is without unification, without a cohesive trajectory or is forced into a system or plan that is against the groups existence, or mode of being, then displeasure and disturbing experiences of feeling and perception arise (daratha in pali). This may seem as if the individuals mind body was at war with itself.
These sorts of battlesome concentrations can overtime cause the physical mind-body disease. Perhaps this is more the origin of Cancer in the human body; entanglement at the quantum level, cellular disruptions caused from mind bodies interacting in the field of activity, (sharing space in the mass of suffering). The allusion to the final body by beings such as the Buddha, suggests that the entanglement of occupying the same energetic space becomes physical overtime, and the individual within a concentration arrives at the final body, could that body be of singleness? Is the entangled final body when solidified at risk of being cancerous, the undefined space of the individual body engaging in a quantum mess of cells and spatial relationships to other bodies? The process of discerning ones body from the field of activity is is a constancy, it seems to be a problem, the problem.
Ones mind-body entanglements and kamma may have physical resultants on the individuals biological health, Feeling and perception as potential indicators of physical bodily changes. Perhaps this is why the Buddha said to abandon feeling and perception.
The field of activity, a field of physical body potential within a concentrated space, sharing mind-body space, like a quantum field around the body. The motion of the bodies involved in the concentration, like shared potential, feeling is not self. Is this my potential motion, is this motion entangling, is it alleviating of entanglement. Does it lead to something medicinal for the group mind or is there a potential for disease? What does that motion feel like, is it resistance or ease of motion? Could one encounter someones way, some entities way, some groups way, a concentrated movement of motion that absorbs the individual fully, a seemingly whole self completely swept away by an absorption.
The Buddha taught meditation to transcend mind-body entanglements of feeling and perception. He also taught that the making of arrangements, plans and maintenance of formations to preserve ones mind-body discernment’s can be all consuming, can lead to manipulative action, maliciousness, and violence. He walked away from the order and structure of the palace, in doing so, letting go of the mind-body connections to the people and objects of the palace environment.
Calling them our materials, reordering natures design into impressive cities and structures, systems of order for lord-mans dominance of earth. The systems of man, like sand turned into glass, rigid, beautiful, useful, and seemingly permanent, are actually fragile, and breakable. Nature resilience and the overall process of life and evolution, more powerful and innovative than any human creation.
If humans have the ontological capabilities to control nature, the ability to supersede the human bodies safe guards and natures securities, then left unchecked, without a grounding to earth and a compassionate nature, the default human is taught to be a planning superhuman of earth control, growth (like a cancerous growth of human construction) and potential destruction of the natural environment. The starting point was an extreme for anyone born in the last 100 years.
Another approach is presented in orientation towards the individual, maintaining a focus on the unfolding of the “the Big Mind” from within as referred to in Zen teaching, and “holding true to the One” as referred to in the Tao te Ching.
Compassionate existence is difficult and uncertain, the earth seems beautiful through the battle-some and tumultuous mind of being human.
that pale in comparison to the natures unfolding an endless blossoming, a rolling wave of evolutionary life force. The anthropocentric, object oriented view is a mere slice, a small section of the earth mind, a small mind within the unfolding of the big mind, of the cosmic mind. No plan can keep the universal unfolding of big mind from revealing a most beautiful reality to those who dare to fully engage. The internal and the ultimate and disturbing reality of feeling and perception is not to be feared. Hatred shall be abandonded.
